Camera woes...

I went and loved on the puppies this last weekend...only to discover that my camera is having some sort of issue :( I am not sure if it is the camera itself or the lens. In order to figure it out and to possibly get it fixed I will have to take it to a camera store. This is unlikely to occur until after the holidays.

Sorry everyone...unless I locate my old point and shoot camera there will not be any pictures until then. Who knows where I put that thing when I got my DSLR camera last year >.<

First Pupdate of the season :)

So yesterday I made my first puppy visit with this year's baby basenji's at Laurel Basenjis. Mom Sabrina presented the world with four tiny bundles. Two tris and two red and whites, a boy and girl each. They are two weeks old and working on opening their little eyes.

Unfortunately my camera battery was out of juice, so Sabe got us a couple of pictures on his cell phone so I could share them here. Behold the nuggets of cuteness!

Small update...

Just a small hello from the Curly Tails to everyone out there. It has gotten cold so we have been hiding indoors, huddled under blankets and surrounded by pillows.

It is how Watson prefers to battle unfriendly weather! Even Menchi who is more resilient as far as cold goes likes the heated indoors better than the frozen outside.

Soon there will be basenji babies to share again...any day now. Watson's breeder has a young female that is expecting some bundles of joy and naughtiness. Stay tuned :)

Picture Time: The Hiking with Mitzie and Lettie Edition

This weekend we were blessed with some glorious fall weather. We decided to take advantage of this and headed out with Laura for some hiking. Miss Mitzie and Miss Lettie who are looking all grown up these days accompanied the Curly Tails on the adventure.

You haz treats?

That's right...I am fabulous!

Mitzie smiling for the camera...she did some serious winning at the Basenji Nationals recently!

The girls...they are hard to tell apart unless you know them :)
This is Miss Mitzie...her blaze is a little broader than Miss Letties

Picture Time: The it's been a while Edition

Finally this weekend we managed to get out there with the Curly Tails and the camera and hit some trails. Sabe found us a new dog park to try out. So we went today and explored the Prairie Moraine Off Leash area near Verona, WI. It was a great time...the park is large and has lovely vegetation and various trails to follow.

The Curly Tails hit the trail...

A break after a wild chase...

This blade of grass was very interesting.

This tree was also very interesting...

Tiny update is tiny...

Sorry for the recent lack of activity...there has been no lack of activity in day to day life, which is why this place has been a wee bit on the quiet side of late.

The good news is that we had a wedding... Sabe and I got married on the 20th of September. It was one of the causes for the flurry of real life activity that our relatively calm household experienced. The Curly Tails had many visitors...they were very excited about every single one. Menchi loves having people visit.

Sadly I could not find a venue for our wedding that would allow us to have the dogs there...I would have loved including the dynamic duo in our special day. Worry not, however, the bride and groom took a break between ceremony and reception and rushed home to feed and care for the Curly Tails ;)

The other good news is that soon we will have basenji puppy photos again :) More on that as the date nears.

I think he needs some more pillows...

I came downstairs the other day to find Watson enthroned on some pillows. I managed to snap a quick picture to share with everybody :)

I sure hope he is comfortable...

Picture Time: The Sunday Hiking Edition

Got to head out with Laura and the dogs for a while today. I managed to snap a few pictures, even though I was feeling a wee bit on the yuck side for part of the outing. Sadly the only picture I got of Miss Menchi is somewhat out of focus *sigh*...but I did for once get a really nice Watson picture. How is that for a change ;)

Menchi is slightly out of focus...
Miss Mitzie is one of Miss Maisie's puppies all grown and gorgeous!
A close-up of that sweet little face <3
There be Basenjis in them woods!
You called?
Proof that he does occasionally stop moving :)

Picture Time: The caged edition

So last weekend was the annual Basenji Club Picnic. As was the case the last couple of years the event took place at Lure Coursing Fanatics in Somers, WI.

We had a really great turnout this year, and fantastic weather. Menchi was sad that she could not just stay out on the course and chase the lure all afternoon. She did not seem impressed that all the other little dogs wanted a turn to chase the bunny too.

Both her and Watson got to run three times throughout the day though...so they got to course plenty.

Also someone came by with a litter of wee Chinese Crested pups, and we all got to snuggle them :)

Here are a couple of pictures of the Curly Tails chilling in their X-pen between runs.

Plueese let me out...I promise I'll be good!
Menchi staring toward the course...
Watson making his feelings know...
Trying to free himself from the tyranny...
I am not amused! Not at all!

Picture Time: The fantastic July weather edition

So the weather was unbelievably nice for a late July day this afternoon. So I, and the Curly Tails headed for the park. I am very much a mild to moderate temperature type girl. Scorching heat and humidity do not do me well...so a 75 degree day with a light breeze is heaven :)

There I had a bit of a disagreement with the camera...I am not sure if the problem is me or if something is amiss with the camera itself. There was some trouble with focusing. I think I got at least a few share worthy pictures though.

We saw the most gorgeous dog at the park. He was a mix of German Shepherd and Bloodhound. He was tall and hound looking, but much more lightly built than a Bloodhound and with less excess skin. I wish I could have gotten a picture of him...

They are having a meeting...it's a secret!
It is hard to be so good looking!
Shar Pei with Basenji in the background...
Taking time out to smell the flowers.
How can you not fall in love with that face?

She loves to lay in the cool grass and roll about.

Sometimes I wonder if he is in fact a cleverly disguised goat!
Always on the move...
