Sad news...

Last night I learned that Menchi's breeder passed away in early February. While I was not as close with her as I am with Watson's breeder, who has become a dear friend, I find myself deeply saddened by her loss.

I suppose it is because she is the person that gave us Menchi, the little dog that makes us laugh at least once everyday. She gave me a great gift when she entrusted me with that 5lbs puppy.

When I met her she was a lively, energetic person and that was just about 18 months ago...scary how fast people can be gone from you like that.

My sympathies to her friends and family...

The Curly Tails had a play date with this little guy yesterday...it was muddy...he is half their size...hence the bath.

Baxter by the way is a five month old miniature poodle that belongs to a friend of ours.

It was nice and sunny out today so we headed off to the park to release some of the stored up crazy.
We were assisted in our efforts by Sally and Harley the puggles, Rowan and Cooper the little red dogs, as well as a little terrier and a labradoodle :)

How to culture and grow things...

Menchi decided to do a science experiment over the weekend. She hatched and grew her own little farm of bacteria and yeast in one of her ears.

It started with head shaking in the middle of the night Friday. Since it was the weekend we had to wait for Monday to make the trip to see Dr Miller. By this morning Miss Chunky Monkey had built up some serious ear gunk...suitable for doing cytology on.

Since having people poke around in her ears is one of Menchi's favorite things *sarcasm* I was pleased with how calmly she took the check up and ear swabbing that happened at the vets office.

So now we have ear drops and antibiotics...

All vet activities were of course monitored by the ever watchful basenji security service and no shar peis were harmed or violated in any way (even though she would tell out other wise).
