Picture time: The Shar Pei in a Tree Edition

So we headed out to enjoy the glorious Sunday weather today. Laura, Cassie, and Cassie's three remaining pups accompanied the Curly Tails and myself.

Laura showed us one of her favorite hiking spots which is somewhere past Portage, WI.

We are slowly thawing out here in the land of cheese.

Also Menchi discovered her tree climbing skills O.O She got up a good way from the ground...at least 10 feet or so...

As usual Mr Watson managed to avoid the camera.

Picture Time: The Mud Bath Edition

So we headed out for our first hike of the year today. Spring is finally making some overtures here...but this being Wisconsin that means we are still half frozen, and the half that isn't frozen is pure mud. We headed out to the aptly named Mud Lake area and proceeded to wallow in all the mud ;)

Watson's breeder Laura accompanied us, bringing along Mama Mazie and her young owner who is picking the little dog up from Laura's to take her home to WA now that Miss Mazie has raised her puppies.

Here is some pictorial proof of our muddy fun...

Picture Time: The look I still have dogs edition...

It has been a long hard winter for the Curly Tails. With the freezing cold and the snow we have been stuck inside most of the last three months.

On top of that Menchi has been fighting a nailbed infection since November. This meant monthly trips to the vet and long term antibiotics along with daily foot soaks. Then when we were finally gaining ground on that she ended up with an infected anal gland... so more antibiotics and warm compresses everyday for that until it started to resolve. Then the day before our last vet recheck the poor girl had a freak accident involving getting tangled in some electrical cords and getting shocked...so now she has healing electrical burns on her poor muzzle.

The accident was a scary thing as it happened when Sabe and myself were at work and we can not be sure exactly why she ended up under the desk in the back by the electrical stuff, when she has never ever displayed a desire to be there in her life. I came home to find her with a swollen muzzle and a mess in the office...one of the more scary moments of my life was to put together what might have happened, and realize that she had electrocuted herself. A vet check later she has a clean bill of health though, and all her medical problems are on the mend now. Even if her freedom card has been revoked, and she has to be crated when we go out and leave them along again.

Shar Pei woe...evidence of Menchi's poor burned mug.

Today was the first day in a while we were able to head to the dog park...I managed a couple of shots. Excuse the bad lighting...it was pretty cloudy.
