How to culture and grow things...

Menchi decided to do a science experiment over the weekend. She hatched and grew her own little farm of bacteria and yeast in one of her ears.

It started with head shaking in the middle of the night Friday. Since it was the weekend we had to wait for Monday to make the trip to see Dr Miller. By this morning Miss Chunky Monkey had built up some serious ear gunk...suitable for doing cytology on.

Since having people poke around in her ears is one of Menchi's favorite things *sarcasm* I was pleased with how calmly she took the check up and ear swabbing that happened at the vets office.

So now we have ear drops and antibiotics...

All vet activities were of course monitored by the ever watchful basenji security service and no shar peis were harmed or violated in any way (even though she would tell out other wise).

Picture Time: Watson goes hiking with the puppies :)

So Watson's breeder has a litter of 5 girls that is currently being raised. Before they leave for their homes she likes to introduce them to lots of things including the fun of going hiking. Watson and I went to help out with their first small hiking expedition yesterday :) Here is proof! The other adult basenji is momma Sunshine.

Mornings...bah!

For some reason the dynamic duo has been asking for their morning potty break and the consequent breakfast earlier and earlier...perhaps it is the change in the light as daybreak sneaks in between the blinds earlier these days.

The other day Watson woke up at 4:30 am and tried to insist on breakfast time...I told him it was to early and he came back under the blankets. Only to get back up at 5:00 am and this time he managed to disturb the sleepy pei as well and convince her to join his quest.

So in order to preserve some sleep for my better half I got up and relocated downstairs with the dogs... I refused to feed them breakfast before 6:00 am though. Instead I curled up on the Futon and waited for time to pass...and the dogs they curled up next to me and were fast asleep within minutes >.<
